Blog! Blog, oh blog, blog, blog, that bloggiest of blogs in my possession. It really has been far too long since our last correspondence. Rest assured, however, that I have been most busy in that time, working away at the Body Shop and the ole Video of Ezy to save some pennies to get me through the festive season.
It’s coming up to that time of year again. In fact, I’d probably say it’s already that time of year. The stress, the bustling, the last-minute shopping and preparations. Lots of angry people doing lots of ridiculous things. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
To be honest I don’t get the pathetic amount of hectic mayhem that accompanies the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Did you see what I did there? I snuck the real meaning of Christmas into that sentence. It’s ok. I was being super-secretive so don’t feel bad if you didn’t spot it. Christmas is a Christian holiday. That’s it. No need to go crazy. Just have lots of food and alcohol and remember that guy they nailed up on the cross and who came back and saved us all etc etc. He’s the guy. No need for endless consumerism that just causes everyone stress and anxiety.
So yes. Bah humbug, in a phrase.
In other news, check out Cloud Control, for they rock. I, a friend and my beloved went to see them play live at the Hopetoun on Saturday night and twas grand, to be sure. They kick ass live even more than they do on their EP. So get down and see them someplace! They’re hitting the Annandale on the 12th of Jan so I’ll see you guys there!
I also had the privilege of witnessing Eric Idle’s comic oratorio ‘Not the Messiah’ on Sunday night. Absolutely brilliant. For fans of all kinds of music and particularly for fans of all things Python, it was an hilarious musical treat. Genii all involved.
I also had the good fortune to pick up a copy of Die Hard 4.0 from work tonight. Apart from the travesty involved in its naming in Australia (the US release was titled ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ – a much more awesome name), the movie rocked. Bruce at his all-time best in the character that made him the action hero he is. Get it now and watch it. Yippi-ki-yay. Also very excited to hear the sequel to National Treasure is being released next week. It’s soppy flag-waving bullshit but it’s a right good yarn.
And just so you know I haven’t fallen off the perch completely, check out Priceless, Lucky Miles, The King and Romulus, My Father; they should all be at your local video store. If they’re not, you should find a new one.
Until next time…
